Northern Light

“Stronsay Aurora” Original painting

Original painting by Alona Petliarska

From the Edge of the World series

“Standing at the edge of the known world, watching the sky catch fire.”

A lone figure stands on ancient rock above dark water as the Northern Lights blaze across the sky in green, red and gold. Painted in watercolour with white acrylic spattering stars across the darkness. Orkney at its most elemental — wild, ancient, astonishing. The landscape as witness to something larger than itself.
