A personal commission begins with your story — the memories, places, symbols and experiences that matter to you. From these starting points, I develop an image or character that gives your story a visual form.

The process is collaborative. We begin with a conversation, agree on the direction and develop a proposal for an original artwork. The medium, scale, timeline and price are agreed before work begins.

Conversation

We begin with your memories, places, symbols and experiences, and discuss what you would like the artwork to express.

Concept and proposal

We agree on the direction and a proposal for the artwork, including medium, scale, timeline and price. A 30% deposit secures your slot before work begins.

Artwork

I develop the artwork and share progress photographs at key stages. We review final photographs before the balance payment and delivery.

Delivery

The artwork is professionally packed, insured and sent with tracking. Shipping is included for most destinations.

How do I get started?

Do I need a finished idea or a character?
You can bring a clear idea, a few references or simply a personal story. We develop the image or character together and agree on the direction before work begins.
How is the price determined?
Commissions start from £2,000. The final price depends on the dimensions of the canvas, the medium (oil, watercolour, acrylic, mixed media), and the complexity of the composition. All prices are quoted in GBP and include the Certificate of Authenticity, studio photography, and worldwide shipping.
Do I get to approve the work before it ships?
Yes. I share final high-resolution photographs before any balance payment is made. I will make minor adjustments if needed. The painting does not leave my studio until you are entirely happy with it.
Does the commission come with a Certificate of Authenticity?
Every commission — like every original work sold through this site — comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. It documents the title, medium, dimensions, date of creation, and my signature. It is your assurance of provenance.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, I ship worldwide from Scotland. All works are professionally packed, fully insured in transit, and sent with a tracking number. Shipping is included in the commission price for most destinations.
Can the artwork be a gift?
Yes. The recipient’s memories, symbols or experiences can provide the starting point. Let me know at the enquiry stage if you would like delivery to the recipient or a handwritten note.
