“She wears the materials of domestic life as a crown.”
A figure drawn in watercolour and pencil on sugar red paper, layered with real lace, gold thread, buttons, fabric flowers and found textiles. The materials come from domestic life — inherited, accumulated, ordinary — but assembled here as adornment, as armour, as art. Cross-contamination made physical: painting and object, the handmade and the painted surface inseparable from one another.
